Course Description/Meeting Summary:

The ESE Behavior, Curriculum and Instruction team will be offering a two day training specific for new and experienced ESE Paraprofessionals. The training will focus on strategies in order for ESE paraprofessionals to best serve students in both the general education and ESE classrooms. Topics for Day 1 Behavior will include triggers of behavior, strategies for preventing and managing behaviors, principles of personal safety, importance of nonverbal versus verbal strategies, and data collection.Topics for Day 2 Curriculum and Instruction will include a description of Curriculum and Instruction, instructional strategies for supporting students, learner characteristics, and roles and responsibilities.

The ESE Behavior, Curriculum and Instruction team will be offering a two day training specific for new and experienced ESE Paraprofessionals. The training will focus on strategies in order for ESE paraprofessionals to best serve students in both the general education and ESE classrooms. Topics for the each of the days will include:

Day 1 September 3 - Behavior

Triggers of behavior.

Strategies for preventing and managing behaviors.

Principles of personal safety.

Importance of nonverbal versus verbal strategies.

Data collection.

Day 2 September 6 - Curriculum and Instruction

Description of Curriculum and Instruction.

Instructional strategies for supporting students.

Learner characteristics.

 

Roles and responsibilities.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

The time and location of the ESE Paraprofessional Training is 8:30 am - 3:00 pm at Kaley Elementary School Media Center 1600 E. Kaley St., Orlando, FL 32806 September 3 and September 6.. There is a 15 minute policy. This means you cannot be more than 15 minutes late at the beginning, returning from lunch, or leaving early. This results in no admittance. If you cannot stay for the duration of the training or attend both days, please remove yourself from the course.

You must attend both days.

If you are no longer planning on attending this course, please remove yourself to allow space for others to attend.

In the event that there are less than 10 participants signed up, this course will be cancelled on (date 72 hours prior to course date). You will receive an email if this occurs.
