Course Description/Meeting Summary:

This session will take place virtually via Microsoft Teams from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on June 26, 2025. The target audience for this session is Kindergarten Teachers, 6th Grade Teachers, 9th Grade Teachers, School Counselors, and College and Career Specialists.This summer professional learning session will equip educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct effective out-of-school family visits. Participants will explore best practices for planning, implementing, and reflecting on home visits to build stronger relationships with families and gain valuable insights into students' home environments. Did you know that out-of-school family visits have been shown to increase student attendance by as much as 15%? Attendees will receive detailed instructions on how to utilize translation services for effective communication with families, proper procedures for documenting visits, information regarding compensation for their time, and guidelines for mileage reimbursement.

  • If you are not a Kindergarten teachers, a teacher of a 6th grade course, a teacher of a 9th grade course, a school counselor, or a College and Care Specialist , please remove yourself as you will not gain access to the course.

  • In the event that there are less than 10 participants signed up, this course will be cancelled on July 26. You will receive an email if this occurs.

  • There is a 15 minute policy. This means you cannot be more than 15 minutes late at the beginning, returning from lunch, or leaving early for face to face or LIVE sessions. This results in no admittance. If you cannot stay for the duration of the PL, please remove yourself from the course.

  • Your pay date will depend upon the completion of the course and the date that your pay is confirmed, validated, and submitted.
