Course Description/Meeting Summary:
Build on literacy by making connections between art and books! Jason Chin is an award-winning author and illustrator of children's picture books. With a love for scientific wonders, he has illuminated the mysteries of coral reefs, redwood trees, the Galapagos Islands, gravity, and the elemental particles that make us who we are. Join us for a private tour of Jason Chin: Your Place in the Universe with Molly Lawson, Associate Curator for Community Engagement, followed by a studio art project with Xavier Moss, professional artist and teacher.

Build on literacy by making connections between art and books! Jason Chin is an award-winning author and illustrator of children's picture books. With a love for scientific wonders, he has illuminated the mysteries of coral reefs, redwood trees, the Galapagos Islands, gravity, and the elemental particles that make us who we are.
Join us for a private tour of Jason Chin: Your Place in the Universe with Molly Lawson, Associate Curator for Community Engagement, followed by a studio art project with Xavier Moss, professional artist and teacher.
The additional 30 minutes required for teachers to receive the full 3-hour workshop credit can be completed with a one-page reflection on your experience. OCPS teachers, this reflection can be submitted in your Canvas course or emailed to Christy Garton, Senior Administrator, Visual and Performing Arts (christy.garton@ocps.net.
This workshop is FREE, but registration is required. Please contact Cristina Baca, Programs Coordinator, at 407-896-423,1, ext. 262 or cbaca@omart.org. A credit card number is required to reserve your spot. Teachers who indicate that they are coming, but don't show up or cancel by Monday, October 13, will be charged a cancellation fee of $15.00. Please register early, this workshop is limited!
