Full Description/Meeting Details:
Sexual Health Education - Part 2 Training (for Middle School Science/SHE teachers only) will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, in Room 3A of the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center.
7:30 am - 8:00 am - Registration
8:00 am - 2:30 pm - Face-to-Face training with 1/2 hour lunch break*
*Vending machines are available in the building, but it is suggested for participants to bring their own lunch.
This face-to-face training is for current OCPS middle school science teachers responsible for teaching Sexual Health Education (SHE), including HIV, STD and teen pregnancy prevention, who have previously attended Sexual Health Education/HIV Training Part 1.
SHE Part 1 Training Dates offered:
- Thursday, September 19th
- Tuesday, September 24th
- Tuesday, October 1st
- Tuesday, October 22nd
- Thursday, November 7th
Sexual Health Education Part 2 professional development is designed to help teachers implement the skills-based lesson plans that will be used with middle school students.
Through grant funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, substitute teachers will be paid for middle school science teachers who teach at traditional OCPS schools and attend the entire day of training. Teachers must request Temporary Duty Leave via myocps.net and schedule a substitute teacher according to school procedures.
Participants must attend the entire session from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. receive in-service points. Partial in-service points will not be processed. Teachers who arrive 15 minutes late or longer (8:15am or later) will not be admitted. In addition, teachers who return 15 or more minutes late from lunch will not be admitted.
RBELC security measures require a school ID badge to park in the parking garage and to gain access to the elevators in the RBELC. Please allow ample time to park, go through security and take the elevators to the 3rd floor. People who park in the flat lot across the road from the RBELC run the high risk of being towed.
Please bring a sweater because the room temperature may vary.
