Course Description/Meeting Summary:

Experience hands-on classroom management and SPARK PE curriculum strategies during this professional learning event. This face-to-face training is intended for elementary physical education teachers and paras who are new(er) to the profession and who have not previously attended SPARK curriculum training. Priority will be given to school-based physical education teachers.

Full Description/Meeting Details:

Tuesday, September 16, 2025; 8:15 am - 2:45 pm

Location: The Hughes Branch of the Boys and Girls Club Gym on the north side of the OCPS Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) School Campus at 701 W. Livingston St., Orlando. 

Target Audience: New(er)/Inexperienced elementary physical education teachers and paras at traditional schools; priority will be given to physical education teachers.

All traditional elementary schools have been given the K-2 and 3-5 SPARK PE Curriculum binders. Experience hands-on classroom management and SPARK PE curriculum strategies during this professional learning event. The SPARK PE Curriculum is the only National Institutes of Health-researched program that positively affects all of the following student outcomes:

  • Activity levels
  • Physical fitness
  • Sports skills
  • Enjoyment of physical education
  • Academic achievement

Detailed parking instructions for the free OCPS ACE School garage located at the corner of Federal St. and N. Lee Ave. will be sent in a separate email.

Follow school procedures to request temporary duty leave and to schedule a substitute teacher. District grant funding will pay for substitutes for teachers and paras. The SAP account information will be shared with participants at the training.

Participants must attend from 8:15 am – 2:45 pm. Registration will occur from 7:45 to 8:15 am. Training will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. Please bring your lunch and plan to eat at the training location.
