Course Description/Meeting Summary:

Are you an advanced user of a digital tool? Do others come to you for support and tips? This session could be for you! Participants for this session will have the opportunity to learn about available certifications for OCPS provide digital tools. Earning certifications and badges show evidence of skills and understanding of the tools. Once certified, the holder is better prepared to provide professional development to peers at school and other settings. The morning will begin with certified facilitators guiding an introduction to tools that provide free or low cost certifications and badges. In the afternoon, participants will be supported to begin the work on certification of their choice.

Potential certifications and/or badges could include:

  • BrainPop (free)

  • Certified Google Educator ($)

  • Defined STEM (free)

  • Nearpod (free)

  • Newsela (free)

  • Read&Write for Google Chrome (free)

  • SMART (free and $)

 

Tips to get the most of the day:

 

  • This is training for advanced users of the identified digital tools.

  • Allow travel time and time to enter the parking garage.

  • Bring your OCPS ID badge so that you enter the garage. Park on the 5th level.

  • The Half Moon Cafe has opened on the first floor! You may pack a lunch or enjoy a freshly prepared meal in the cafe.

  • Begin to think about which certifications and/or badges you would like to earn first.

  • This is a hands on session in the 5th floor Lab A - engaging in the activities will give participants greater value of their day.

  • If you are not able to attend, please withdraw from the course so that another may take the spot.
