Course Description/Meeting Summary:

The visual arts present students with the opportunity to celebrate diversity and explore their unique identities. This workshop will present classroom strategies for discussing topics related to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion in connection with works from the Orlando Museum of Art. Bring your sketchbook! Our session will include reflective journaling exercises. This workshop will be facilitated by Associate Curator of Education and Outreach, David Matteson.

The visual arts present students with the opportunity to celebrate diversity and explore their unique identities. This workshop will present classroom strategies for discussing topics related to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion in connection with works from the Orlando Museum of Art. The additional 30 minutes required for teachers to receive the full 3-hour workshop credit may be completed with a one-page reflection on your experience at the Museum. This reflection should be sent to Christy Garton at Christy.Garton@ocps.net. Please register early, this workshop is limited to 30 teachers. 

Any teacher who attends the workshop will be given a complimentary admission ticket to return for OMA’s 1st Thursdays! The February 3 theme is “Onija” and is presented in partnership with Black Girl Theatre Magic.
