Full Description/Meeting Details:
This training is specific for teachers that are new to the instruction of Access Points. Administrators and other support staff that work with students with a significant cognitive disability are also encouraged to attend. Teachers will learn about the ELA and Math Access Points and the Essential Understandings (EUs) that unpack the Access Points to assist in the teaching and learning of the standards. Information will include the NGSSS Science and Social Studies Access Points along with the B.E.S.T Standards. Teachers will be provided with the how and why of Access Points and Access Courses.
This training is specific for teachers that are new to the instruction of Access Points. Teachers will learn about the ELA and Math Access Points and the Essential Understandings (EUs) that unpack the Access Points to assist in the teaching and learning of the standards. Information and resources will also be provided regarding the NGSSS Science and Social Studies Access Points. Teachers will learn how to find and use a number of valuable resources designed to assist in the teaching and learning of Access Points.
o If you are no longer planning on attending this course, please remove yourself to allow space for others to attend.
o In the event that there are less than 10 participants signed up, this course will be cancelled on (date 72 hours prior to course date). You will receive an email if this occurs.
o The time and location of the Access Point PD 1.0 are 8:30-11:30 at the Ft. Gatlin Administrative Center 3909 S. Summerlin Ave, Orlando, FL 32806. There is a 15-minute policy. This means you cannot be more than 15 minutes late at the beginning or leaving early. This results in no admittance. If you cannot stay for the duration of the PD, please remove yourself from the course.
o If you are not a general ed or ESE teacher supporting students working on Access Points, which is the intended audience for the course as described in Canvas, please remove yourself as you will not be admitted to the course.
o Bring a copy of your classroom or an individual student schedule.
o Bring a fully charged laptop for access to the internet.
