Course Description/Meeting Summary:

This face-to-face Access Points training is the first of three sessions designed for ESE and general education educators new to instructing students using Florida's B.E.S.T. Access Points. The session will focus on delivering high-quality, standards-based instruction aligned with the Florida Alternate Assessment Standards (FAA). Participants will learn about Essential Understandings, Complexity Levels, Person First Language, Presuming Competence, in-class support strategies, and Participants will make a whole class schedule to implement in their classroom as a follow-up activity. The resource book Adapting Unstoppable Learning will be provided to begin understanding how to implement a Triangle of Support in the classroom. We will also explore effective Tier 1 instruction. Prior training on the general Florida B.E.S.T. standards are highly encouraged.

This training will be held on 8/28/25 from 8:30am-3:30pm in Portable 9 at Baldwin ES.

Reminders: 

  • The training portables are at the far back left-hand side of the parking lot and you do not need to go through the front office.
  • If you are no longer planning on completing this course, please remove yourself to allow space for others to attend. Click here for instructions on how to remove yourself.
  • Please bring a fully charged laptop
  • In the event that there are less than 5 participants signed up, this course will be canceled within 72 hours. You will receive an email if this occurs.
  • There is a 15-minute policy. This means you cannot be more than 15 minutes late at the beginning, returning from lunch, or leaving early for face-to-face sessions. This results in no admittance. If you cannot stay for the duration of the PL, please remove yourself from the course.
