Course Description/Meeting Summary:

This training will help Student Services personnel develop the knowledge and skill required to provide immediate mental health crisis interventions to the students, staff, and school community members who have been exposed to an acute traumatic stressor. This workshop requires a 1 hour pre training Teams Meeting followed by 2 full days of attendance face to face.

Full Description/Meeting Details:

The target audience for this 2-day workshop training is staff that support students following a crisis response (school social workers, school psychologists). This training will help develop the knowledge and skill required to provide immediate mental health crisis interventions to the students, staff, and school community members who have been exposed to an acute traumatic stressor (i.e., student death, staff death, significant injury). The knowledge and skill developed within this session also help to build a bridge to the psychotherapeutic and trauma informed mental health response sometimes required to address challenges associated with trauma exposure. This workshop provides the knowledge and skills to mental health professionals as they provide mental health crisis intervention services. This workshop requires a 1 hour pre training Teams Meeting June 8, 2023 at 10 a.m.-11 a.m.. The training is face to face for 2 full days on 06/13/2023 & 6/14/2023. The time for face to face training is 8:00AM-3:30PM. The location for the training is at the Southeast Learning Community 6501 Magic Way, Building 700 Training Portable. • If you are no longer planning on completing this course, please remove yourself to allow space for others to attend. Click here for instructions on how to remove yourself. • If you are not a school counselor, SAFE, school social work, school psychologist or DMHC, please remove yourself as you will not gain access to the course. • In the event that there are less than 10 participants signed up, this course will be cancelled on June 7, 2023. You will receive an email if this occurs. • Bring your signed Summer 2023 Professional Development Planning Sheet to the session. You will not gain admittance without the signed planning sheet. This means you cannot be more than 15 minutes late at the beginning, returning from lunch, or leaving early for face to face or LIVE sessions. This results in no admittance. If you cannot stay for the duration of the PD, please remove yourself from the course. • Your pay date will depend upon the completion of the course and the date that your pay is confirmed, validated, and submitted.
