Course Description/Meeting Summary:

Target audience TWDL &TB teachers-This virtual workshop will help K-2 ELL/Dual-Language teachers pinpoint goals for readers and support them over time as they work toward those goals. Teachers will first learn what makes an effective strategy and how to craft their own by noticing their own processes and exploring possibilities from mentor texts. Next, teachers will focus on how to know which strategies to teach to whom and when. Teachers will also learn about a thirteen-goal hierarchy and techniques to assess quickly. The balance of the time together will be spent seeing how these strategies will come to life in whole class, small group, and individual instruction. Teachers will be engaged in activities, small group breakout room conversations, and will analyze engaging videos watching Jen as she breaks down complex concepts into actionable, doable steps. The workshop will equip teachers to be able to try out new strategies and methods as soon as they get back to their own students.
