This three hour course gives the participant an overview of the CPI Verbal De-escalation program.  CPI is a crisis intervention protocol that is used to help deescalate people that are demonstrating pre-crisis behaviors or crisis level behaviors.  Throughout the overview, participants will learn a range of preventative techniques, de-escalation strategies, and communication skills.  All strategies taught keep the philosophy of CPI which is to "promote the best Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security for all involved in a crisis situation."

This course provides de-escalation strategies that can be used but should not replace OCPS transportation policies and procedures.
