Course Description/Meeting Summary:

The Curriculum and Digital Learning department, in partnership with Dr. Sarah Giuliani, an adjunct professor with UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Initiative) is pleased to invite you to our upcoming professional learning series on the Science of Reading for Secondary Content Areas. This series is intended for all content area teachers including math, science, social studies and ELA to move beyond ELA-specific to provide practical, research-based strategies for addressing the critical reading challenges faced by our middle and high school students. Instructional coaches and administrators are also welcome to attend.

Full Description/Meeting Details:

Part 2: Unlocking Difficult Words and Mastering Key Vocabulary

·         Learn powerful, quick strategies (like breaking words into parts and syllables) that you can teach your students to quickly figure out complex, multisyllabic words found in your textbooks and readings (e.g., photosynthesis, constitutional, disproportionate).
