Course Description/Meeting Summary:
"These standards ""form the foundation for school leadership preparation programs, educator certification requirements, professional learning for school administrators, and school administrator evaluation systems."" This course is required for individuals who hold a certificate in educational leadership. The individual must earn a minimum of one college credit or 20 inservice points in Florida’s educational leadership standards to renew their professional certificate with renewals beginning July 1, 2025 or later."

Full Description/Meeting Details:
House Bill 1537 amended Section 1012.585, Florida Statutes (F.S.), requiring educators that hold a certification coverage in Educational Leadership (Level I) or School Principal (Level II) with a certification expiration date of June 30, 2025, or thereafter, to earn 1 college credit or 20 in-service points in the Florida Educational Leadership Standards, as established in rule by the State Board of Education. The leadership standards are incorporated in Rule 6A-5.080, Florida Administrative Code.
As per rule 6A–4.0051, F.A.C., designated certification areas must take 20 hours in Florida’s Educational Leadership Standards (FELS) professional learning for renewal or reinstatement beginning with the validity date of July 1, 2025 or later. This rule applies to all staff (instructional and administrative) that hold certificates in Educational Leadership under Rule 6A-4.0082, F.A.C., or school principal under Rule 6A-4.0083, F.A.C.
