Full Description/Meeting Details:
The Acceleration initiative focuses on a strategy that strives to narrow achievement gaps by incorporating the frontloading of upcoming English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics core content and vocabulary 1-2 weeks prior to scheduled classroom delivery. Early exposure to instruction allows a select group to build and strengthen their background knowledge making the learning process easier when content is presented during core instruction so the accelerated students have a point of reference to build upon while gaining an understanding of:
- The real-world relevance and purpose of the concept.
- Critical vocabulary, including what the words look and sound like.
- The basic skills needed to master the concept.
- The new skills needed to master the concept.
- The big picture of where instruction is going.
